Scott too hot for Stirling

A late Scott Agnew strike gave Dumbarton a scrappy 1-0 win over Stirling.

The Sons threatened in the opening stages, but Sam Filler was equal to Patrick Walker's testing long-range shot.

Mark Gilhaney and Bryan Prunty also had efforts from outside the box for the Sons, but neither side looked like creating a clear opening.

Stirling came out stronger after the break and Scott Davieson should have done better with his right-footed shot which was straight at Stephen Grindlay.

Agnew finally broke the deadlock for Dumbarton with less than 10 minutes to go, striking a fine low drive from distance that nestled in the bottom corner.

Stirling pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but ultimately fell to their third straight defeat.
