Nine-man Dumbarton made an amazing comeback against shell-shocked Forfar to steal all three points right at the death.

The Sons looked dead and buried when Forfar took an 81st minute lead, but an equaliser four minutes from time and then a comical own goal deep into injury time ensured the visitors went away happy.

Forfar went ahead in the eighth minute when Mark Cameron hit a brilliant long shot from just outside the box which beat the keeper easily.

But Dumbarton piled on the pressure afterwards, and John Gemmell went close when he hit the crossbar with a header.

Dumbarton levelled from the penalty spot in the 59th minute after Gemmell was pulled back. Iain Russell sent the keeper the wrong way.

However, in a minute of madness Dumbarton had two players sent off. Steve Ferguson went for a second booking and Ryan Borris for a wild tackle.

Forfar pressed with their two-man advantage, and Eddie Forrest put them ahead in the 81st minute with a low shot from 25 yards.

But with only four minutes left Gemmell stabbed the ball home in a crowded Forfar box.

Worse was to come for Forfar when Alan Rattray attempted to pass the ball back to his keeper only to slice the ball into his own net to give Dumbarton victory.
