Berwick Rangers were overwhelmed and eventually outclassed by their bogey team Dumbarton.

Rangers are already deep in trouble after four successive league defeats and the winning margin could have been much wider as John Dillon, Eddie Annand and Andy Rodgers tore them apart.

Annand hit a hat-trick - his first was a powerful far-post header from Dillon's cross - and the killer blow right on half time was rammed home from close range.

Four minutes into the second half he made it three. Dillon caused havoc and Gary O'Connor could only push his low cross to the grateful striker.

Annand was taken off but although Rangers hoped for some relief their hopes were dashed within 60 seconds when substitute Robert Dunn scored.

He was set up by Steven Bonar and although he saw his first shot saved by O'Connor, he followed up to net the rebound.

Gareth Hutchison, who battled up front unsupported all day, had a shot kicked off the line and Paul Hampshire saw an inswinging corner hooked out from under the bar.

But these were brief interludes of hope for Berwick and had the impressive Rodgers finished as well as he created space, he too would have been celebrating a hat-trick.
